Packing Slips

Providing packing slips means preparing and including a list of the items shipped with a customer order. Its main functions include:

  • Identifying the shipment: Show the order number, customer, delivery address, and shipment date.
  • Listing contents: Record the items and quantities packed in each box or shipment.
  • Checking accuracy: Help packing staff confirm that the shipment matches the order.
  • Communicating partial shipments: Show what was shipped and, when applicable, what remains on backorder.
  • Helping the customer receive the order: Let the customer compare the slip with the items delivered.
  • Supporting problem resolution: Provide a record to investigate missing, incorrect, or damaged items.

The goal is to give both the business and the customer a clear record of what was shipped.
