Managing Hiring

Hiring new employees is the process of finding and selecting people to fill open positions. Its main functions include:

  • Identifying staffing needs: Decide what work needs to be done and whether a new position is needed.
  • Defining the job: Write the duties, required skills, work schedule, and pay range.
  • Recruiting candidates: Advertise the position and seek qualified applicants.
  • Reviewing applications: Compare candidates’ experience and qualifications with the job requirements.
  • Interviewing and assessing: Ask job-related questions and, when useful, check work samples or skills.
  • Checking references: Verify relevant experience and information, with the candidate’s permission.
  • Selecting a candidate: Make and document a hiring decision.
  • Making an offer: Communicate pay, benefits, schedule, and other employment terms.
  • Preparing for the start date: Complete required paperwork, arrange equipment and access, and coordinate onboarding.

The goal is to hire someone who can perform the job well and give them a clear start in the business.
