Pulling Stock
Home » Pulling Stock
Pulling stock for orders and stocking shelves both involve moving inventory, but they serve different purposes.
| Function | Main tasks |
|---|---|
| Pulling stock for orders | Read the pick ticket, locate the item, verify its description and quantity, check its condition, record what was picked, and send it to packing or delivery. |
| Stocking shelves | Receive or retrieve inventory, verify the item and shelf location, rotate older stock forward, label and arrange products, and update inventory records. |
Key considerations for both are accuracy, safe lifting and equipment use, preventing damage, keeping aisles clear, and reporting shortages or inventory discrepancies. If products have expiration dates, use the business’s stock rotation method so older or earlier-expiring items are used first.
The goal is to keep inventory accurate and accessible while making sure customer orders contain the right products.
